More Access Road Earthworks?

Question to DCC Compliance (edited from 2 emails)

I note that significantly more road access construction has taken place in the last week.

I have had confirmation from the DCC Planning Dept that the following consents are in place at the address:
  • Consent to re-build a boat shed (suspended)
  • Consent to erect a single dwelling on Rural Land (2000)
  • Consent to erect a barn 21/10/2005
  • Earthworks Consent to excavate a building platform 7/11/2005
  • Earthworks Consent to create a rite of way 1/09/2005
Given that my previous conversations with Mr Dippie confirmed that the current access to the site was temporary only, and not in the position envisaged for the final access to the site, I am surprised and frustrated that this "access track" is now approximately 7.5m wide (State Highway, minus clear way zones) and has now been metalled, for what appears to be over 80m length into the site.

Can the DCC confirm that the current access construction lies within that envisaged by the DCC for a "rite of way". Also, the DCC has yet to comment on the suitability of the current positioning for this access - an action which could also have public input or response, given that Mr Dippie himself has acknowledged that this is not in an ideal location so close to the Michies railway crossing.

Peter Woods of DCC Compliance confirmed that the earthworks consetns are in place for current activities.

Final position re access or right of way will only be finalised once Mr Dippie reveals exactly what he intends to do re this development.

Dear Lee

Thank you for taking such a keen interest in our operations. I know you have a bit of a bee in your bonnet about us accessing the site. Why I do not really know? But just to help you avoid any further "frustration" here is what we are up to.

The Pinus Pinasta are presently being milled and the logs have been sold to Wenita for export. In the interests of safety the Wenita logging trucks require safe access at Doctors Point Road. We have widened the entrance to ensure they have a wide swing area. We have also metalled the entrance to the load out area so the trucks do not carry out mud on to the road and make it dangerous and a nuisance.

You may be glad about these things because I have a slight suspicion that you would complain should we have not put them in place, in the first place, if you know what I mean.

Regards
Allan Dippie

My response to Allan Dippie.

Dear Allan,

I can't help but take a keen interest in the operation, being a significantly affected party, and having the additional plant movements, machinery noise and dramatic changes currently underway to the site. I am sure that you understand this.

Thanks for taking the time to explain to me the needs for your current operations.
Without these explanations, I am afraid that I (perhaps cynically) suspect the worst.

I acknowledge that this may be unfair, and unreservedly apologise if you feel maligned.

In any case, I am glad that you want to keep the Doctors Point Road clean and safe.
No one will be happier than me when the site is restored according to Willowridge's Mission Statement.

Please keep in touch.

Regards,

Lee Paterson
